A core problem within this generation is the lack of understanding between the differentiation of dating and being in a relationship. This often is the exact reason why we end up hurt, whether male or female.

Dating is the trial and error stage when it comes to being with a man or a woman. This should be the time where you have fun, which means learning about what you like or don't like, what attracts you to someone, and if you consider taking the person more serious or rather being exclusive with them to build the bond into a relationship.

If things don't necessarily work out in your favour, move accordingly and on to someone else because again this is simply the trial and error stage. During this period, you should not settle. That is what many often forget and end up hurt. We catch ourselves in this predicament where we are disappointed because we have so many expectations from these individuals and hold them to a high standard. However, do they really owe us this? No.

Stop wasting your time and limiting yourself to one individual based on the potential one may have or what you hope. As the great quote says, "Hope for the best, expect the worst," which is exactly how we need to think when dating. We cannot hold people to high expectations when nothing is solidified, especially in the early stages of bonding with one. When you see the red flags, you should leave. If they are not comprehending what you have expressed over and over, leave. If you feel annoyed or unhappy, LEAVE!

Additionally, the importance of dating multiple people at the same time should be also mentioned. Ladies and Gents take advantage of your mingling time! Go out there and date those who interest you. If you happen to engage in sexual activity with these individuals, protect yourself! As stated earlier, you don't settle when you date and are free to mingle as you desire.

Relax and have fun! Date and don't settle for potential.
