Lanita Carter, the former R&B singer hairstylist, breaks her silence on R. Kelly sexual abuse towards her for the first time publicly.

Lanita was R. Kelly's hairdresser and was 24-years-old when she was sexually assaulted by him in 2003. During the interview with CBS This Morning , Ms. Carter stated that she braided his hair for over a year, but he was more than a client to her. Additionally, the hairstylist also defended Kelly when he was arrested on child pornography charges back in 2002. However, that changed on February 18, 2003.

Lanita expressed that she received a call from R. Kelly to come to braid her hair. The atmosphere was fine until Kelly asked Ms. Carter for a hair massage in his head, which she denied to do. She stated that the R&B singer grabbed her hair and forced her to perform oral sex on him.

“He pulled my braid down by him,” Lanita said. “And he say, ‘Suck it for daddy, suck it for daddy.’ And I said, ‘No.’ And I did like this. And he just started going, [spitting noises]. He did it, like, six times.”

Ms. Carter said she stopped after hearing someone at the door who was knocking, and called the police following the situation. Charges were not filed towards Kelly due to the hairstylist "[signing] a $650,000 settlement,” according to Daily Mail.

Lanita Carter made the choice to come forward after watching the documentary on R. Kelly.
