Jussie Smollett Faces Lawsuit Which Can Potentially Get Him Fired From Empire

The city of Chicago is demanding for Jussie Smollett to pay $130K due to the overtime investigation based on his "attack."

A City officer has sent Jussie a letter demanding payment in which the Empire star legal team have already rejected. They believe Jussie is the one owed anything, especially an apology from the Chicago Mayor and Police Superintendent.

Sources close to the Mayor have stated that "they will absolutely file a civil case to get the money. Under the law, the City can actually collect 3 times the actual amount owed as a penalty" in which the amount is close to $390,000, according to TMZ.

If Jussie follows through with the "attack" case in court, it will be litigated. This will turn over the decision towards a judge, on if the attack was fake before deciding if the actor has to make payment. However, if the judge finds the attack to be fake, it will allow Empire to fire him despite the case being dismissed by the state attorney.

Furthermore, if Jussie Smollett loses the case and declines to pay the City can enact judgement, which can suspend his bank account and seize earnings.
