Calypso Singer Mighty Shadow Has Died

Legendary Calypso and Soca singer Winston “Mighty Shadow” Bailey passed away this morning at Mount Hope Hospital. Bailey suffered from a stroke on Sunday, which he was struggling to recover from.

Although Mighty Shadow has passed, his great achievements within music will live on.

In 1974, he won Road March for his song " Bassman," with his " I Come To Play" coming in second. Winning the title again in 2001 with " Stranger ," brought him to his won for International Soca Monarch. Later on in 2000, he won Calypso Monarch with his " What’s Wrong With Me and Scratch Meh Back ."

Mighty Shadow will be remembered for his unique voice and dance moves within Soca and Calypso.
