What a joy for Jamaican promoters in Kingston! An agreement has been arranged for event promoters to pay an additional fee worth $20,000 (JMD) to $30,000 (JMD) for the coverage of clean-up cost, making them allowed to use KSAMC spaces for events.

“We all agreed that the promoters will pay a special fee to cover clean up of the space immediately after an event. We have also agreed that we have to monitor the frequency of events in one particular location....we have to ensure that the frequency of the events does not pose an issue to residents in a particular location...we are also looking at adjusting decibel levels at various times,” Mayor of Kingston Delroy Williams told the Jamaica Observer.

Mayor Williams also spoke on the different productive ideas from the meeting last week Tuesday, in which was when the agreement was made.

“The promoters are also exploring the idea of an association of promoters to make discussion between us and events promoters easier through an association which would represent them. They are embracing the idea...We also believe there should be a registry of promoters and also an Association of Promoters. This we will continue to explore,” said Williams.

Some of the event planners who were at the meeting were Supreme Team Limited, organisers Sandz and Ova Suh; My Scheme; MoBay Marlin Tournament; Romeich Entertainment; and The Network.

As reported , the KSAMC had suspended giving out permits for entertainment events in their New Kingston parking lots. This was based on the company concern with the lack of establish rules for dealing with the use and cleaning up of parking lots.
