New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has recently announced that he is running for President 2020! The announcement was made Thursday, which makes him the 23rd candidate to run for the Democratic Party.

According to CNN , Blasio expressed that “I’m a New Yorker, I’ve known Trump’s a bully for a long time. This is not news to me or anyone else here. And I know how to take him on. Don’t back down in the face of a bully — confront him, take him on.”

He continued, “Donald Trump must be stopped — I’ve beaten him before and I will do it again. I’m Bill de Blasio, and I’m running for president because it’s time we put working people first.”

Bill de Blasio also spoke about the several policies that he advocated for in the city, which included guaranteed health care, paid sick leave and $15 minimum wage. However, the mayor was already criticized by fellow New Yorkers.

According to NBC News , Good Morning America host George Stephanopoulos acknowledged how many New Yorkers do not want Blasio running for president.
