Looks like Beenie Man has a lot in store for his old community! The dancehall deejay is building a church and library in Waterhouse.

According to Urban Islandz , Beenie is using his own money to invest in a library and rebuild a church within the community he was raised in, Waterhouse, Kingston, Jamaica. Even though the dancehall icon is a Rastafarian, he still wants to help rebuild the church he grew up and attended regularly and that he says has a special place in his heart.

Beenie Man made it clear that he is not building the church to become a Christian but to give back to his community. He also has stated that the Ethiopian Orthodox Church is another place that he cherishes a lot. “Mi love God in every way, and mi will praise him in every name,” Beenie expressed. “It is not about Christianity, and I’m not trying to baptize. Selassie nuh need fi do that. You see true my mother a Christian and everybody know, but my church is the Ethiopian Orthodox Church.”

The dancehall artist also pointed to the fact that the church is being created in the most violent area of Waterhouse, at Unity Lane off Balcombe Drive. “The only thing left to go on now is the top, but mi did a plan to put a library on the top because it is a community church and the youth dem need something to do,” he continues.

Beenie Man also told the site that the church would have been completed, but people within the community stole construction material which caused the delay. "Some $2.4 million is already spent on the construction in labor and material, and another $4 million is needed for the completion," Urban Islandz mentioned.
